In 1997 Liz was appointed Minister of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs and joined the Irish Government’s negotiating team along with Taoiseach Bertie Ahern and Minister David Andrews to the multiparty talks, leading to the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement.
