Women together

In October, Women Together was founded and by February 1971 there were five local groups of Women Together working across Belfast, hosting meetings attended by hundreds of women.

A constant presence on the streets throughout the Troubles, these fearless women were stopping rowdyism and vandalism between gangs of youths and removing burnt out cars, as well as publicly supporting peace, and victims of intimidation.

It was a full-time job. A movement for all women, their legacy has been empowering women from every walk of life to take an active role in the peace process.
